The Specialist Recording Company (SRC) was founded in 2001 and since then has made a reputation for producing the best quality military and symphonic wind band recordings money can buy, recording top flight bands both from the UK and abroad. We have also started to make brass recordings and aim to expand our catalogue in this genre. SRC Mangaing Director and Producer Mike Purton is a highly experienced recording producer with a background in classical music , he was Principal Horn in the Hallé Orchestra in Manchester between 1973 and 1986 and was Senior Horn Professor at the Royal Northern College of Music (1978-91) and Head of Wind, Brass & Percussion at Trinity College of Music, London (1991-97). He is an accomplished conductor and teacher, bringing his wide range of experience into play at recording sessions where he works with the musicians to derive the best possible results. He has produced many orchestral, chamber music and solo recordings for a number of international labels as well as producing and editing all the SRC catalogue. SRC’s principal recording engineers are Martin Atkinson (formerly of DECCA Classical) and the legendary Tony Faulkner. Between them SRC’s two engineers have recorded most of the world’s great orchestras and soloists and bring their classical recording skills into the studio for us. Artwork is designed by the excellent John Haxby of The Art Surgery who has created a wealth of fabulous designs for SRC.
